A day at Cordy House

What do you see when you look at a piece of graffiti? Do you see art or do you see shit? If you belong to the latter camp, this post (or this blog really) is not for you [but stay anyway:)]. If you belong to the former then what sort of art do you see? “street art” or just “the work of an artist” Attached is a mini documentary by Dr. LoMax telling the story of the tasks involved in erecting a piece of “street art”

What we find most interesting about the video (and this seems to be a recurring complaint among street artists) is the fact that the artists take offense at the term “street art” being used to describe their work. They want to be seen not just as “street artists” but simply as “artists”. And taking a look at a lot of the great stuff out there that is often labeled “street art”, we kind of see their point. Art doesn’t always have to be in a museum or have a price tag on it*.
